PC Gamer? Help me out...

Hi machan la.

I'm planning to build a gaming rig, and stuck between AMD 7970 and GTX 580.

I won't be using for video encoding but just for gaming.

And I will be using a 3D monitor as well, but I hear AMD's 3D is as not as good as Nvidia's. Is that true?

Machan AMD 7970 is better than nvidia 580. But it trades blows with Nvidia 680. I don't think you'll be able to get hold of the 680 for at least a month since nvidia hasn't started shipping the items out.

I think you have better option wih AMD as it's support on openGL platforms as well as some other open formats will be beneficial in the future.

AMD HD7970 is much better. Don't go for the 3D shit. It'll cut your frame rate by 50%

Mcn buy the PC without da VGA and wait a month and buy the Nvidia GTX680 thatz da best option

yeah try to buy a new CPU too unless it would bottleneck the GPU. so it would be totally pointless if you don't have a good CPU. make sure about the rest of specifications ram, motherboard, hard disk RPM etc..
if u wanna cheap , high performance but lower life span hardware always go for ATI/AMD.
