Machanz, I have an external drive attached to my router. I can mount the drive as smb://ip-address on my computer. Does anyone knows how to access the same drive from a different location over the internet ?

Do you have a static IP?
If not configure the router with dyndns.

Thx. I managed to get it working but the dynamic ip was a problem. Didn't know about the dyndns.

First check whether your router supports dynamic DNS. (e.g: dyndns)
I think dyndns has a desktop version too.

you can register there and get a host name, username and password. you have to configure those parameters in your router. Then router will announce your IP address to dyndns time to time so that dyndns always able to map the hostname with current IP. Then you will be able to connect to your NAS using the hostname.
