If we want to protect our cricket for the future, I think the best thing is refusing the players' requests. at least then we can protect the next generation. Otherwise the next generation also will try to do the same in the future.
So by taking that action we can let the juniors knows that the Cricket board is not a place that fulfilling whatever the request the players asked..... it's enough now... having lost 4 world cups in a row and asking for more ??, if it is how much arjuna, aravinda should have asked those days even they hadn't the tournaments like IPL those days.
Cricket board should have to be tough than this. Could have say “This is what we can give? Players who like to that only can stay”... definitely then lots of players who are arguing on the salary issue will not resign for sure [Assume that only the salary issue is there...]
But if the players decided this because of the officials in the cricket board is filling their pockets with the money that our players deserves, then i am in players' side
