GPS Navigation in Sri Lanka / Root your android or NOT

Hey guys,

I want to activate Google navigation. For some reason I cannot activate the voice direction. I've read some articles on EK but I don't want to risk anything by doing that on my own. Bought a new phone yesterday

1). I know there are ways to activate - Guide me please.

2). Do I have to root my phone? Got an International Samsung warranty so is it okay to just throw it away? Rooting is illegal?

3). If I root it, I can also unroot it back right? Does that mean I get my warranty back??

Please leave your answers/thoughts.

Afaik,google voice navigation is not available for sl..

No root required

You don't need to root your android just for the sake of activating google navigation alone.

Google Navigation with voice guidance and all can be installed without rooting the phone, just download and install the following,

Once installed it shows two maps apps. Open the newly installed maps and then you could see two navigation apps too. Use the second navigation icon and log in if requested and it works fine for SL.
I am using this with out rooting my phone and works fine for me. But you'll find the lengthy street names in SL that google navi reads out a headache for sure.
