    පලවෙනි එක තනිකරම ගණන් වලින් හදන්න පුළුවන්.

    horses for the 1st= 17/2=8.5
    " " " " 2nd=17/3=5.666..~5.67
    " " " " 3rd= 17/2=1.999..~1.99

total amount of horses got divided= 8.5+5.67+1.99=16.16

because of the part 0.16, one horse get killed. Instead of killing that one, it get divided in to respective portions the sons were promised. so it ends up like this.

    horses for the 1st= 8.5+1/2=8.5+0.5=9
    "" 2nd= 5.66..+1/3=5.66..+0.33..=6
    "" 3rd= 1.99..+1/9=1.99..+0.11..=2

    Correct Answer

    පලවෙනි එක තනිකරම ගණන් වලින් හදන්න පුළුවන්.

    horses for the 1st= 17/2=8.5
    " " " " 2nd=17/3=5.666..~5.67
    " " " " 3rd= 17/2=1.999..~1.99

total amount of horses got divided= 8.5+5.67+1.99=16.16

because of the part 0.16, one horse get killed. Instead of killing that one, it get divided in to respective portions the sons were promised. so it ends up like this.

    horses for the 1st= 8.5+1/2=8.5+0.5=9

    "" 3rd= 1.99..+1/9=1.99..+0.11..=2

Mathematically correct if you round it up
However Marchan ur rounding up 16.16 to 17 at the end which is again incorrect

That's y u need t think out of da box

    Lend 1 horse
    Divide as the will
Then return back the lent horse

    Question

    Here goes another question

Father and son goes to super market and on the way they meet with a huge accident.
Father dies on the spot and the son is severely injured.
Son is admitted to the nearest hospital and taken to the operation theatre.
Doctor comes to operate, see the patient and shocked....
    Tells the nurse
" I can't operate my son now cause I'm not having a straight mind for this, please call another doctor"
    And leaves the operation theatre.

    Can this be possible?

no, you can get the exact answers without rounding up. 16.16 is only to show that the last one has to be killed. It's not used in the calculations again. and it wasn't rounded to 17. I think you didn't understand the mathematical process. other ones are not rounded. This way there's no need of lending another horse.this is the hardcore math way and the most solid proof for the answer. Still i like the creative way. :D

I do understand the mathematical process very well.
But what I don't is your logic behind.
    addidng
    0.5
    0.33
    0.01

Can you explain that to me:confused:
and you are dividing one horse into parts !!!!!!
    How is that LOGICAL ?????

    I get your point machan

mehema karana eka sadaranai bn. kohewath ekak illagena wade karagena denawata wada . a unata a methode eka maths walath tiyenawa neda :yes::yes:

But here we are talking about horses.
    Not pieces of horses.
so if you take 17 it doesn't work.
    Cz maths give you decimals.
IF we are to argue each horse in one piece lending seems to be the best way..

Nyway I would like very much of your arguments
It keeps it interesting and if I can learn something I'd appreciate that more.

    Thanks machan.
