A person who is educated in the public school must be costing more than 25k per year(in early 90s it was 6k) So not only the people who went to uni but all have spent govt money (aprox 25k X12) If they can go abroad why cant a graduate doctor , engineer etc go abroad.
Most of them send remittances of substantial amount and we cloud waste money like what is doing by govt is because of massive remittances received for a month.
So, by going abroad not only we get foreign currency but we also get publicity for our knowledge economy in the world. See India the Microsoft CEO is an Indian. There are quite a lot of sri lankans who are doing well, only issue is they may opt to invest in other countries due to political and other factors.
So, we should attract their investment in SL with proper policies. But this applies to top earners. Average professional always come back to sl and thus invest in sri lanka. We should not only be proud of them but heavily indebted to them. We could not have won the war without the remittances and still continue to pay for war expences because of this.
In America when the independence war was over massive taxes were slaped on the people. but we did not experience such because of remittances from abroad.
So, try to understand the macro economic realities before making popular statements, due to jealousy
