Suddenly my dvd rom stopped reading disks,, need HELP,!!

My cd/dvd rom worked well few days back for both dvd and cd, but when i inserted a dvd yesterday it shows nothing, it wont read disks any more,, no problem can be found by windows, and also in device manager,
Please any one give me a solution, its an old dual core with windows xp,

1. Insert a DVD with autorun
2. Insert a CD
3. Insert an audio CD
If nothing works then buy a new dvd rom
