අලුත් Virus එකක් ඇවිත් ලු .... පරිස්සමෙන්
This is regarding the below virus incident which we informed earlier. Now we have found the malicious file extension has changed as CAB file (*.cab) & distribute from mail attachment. Therefore Do not open unknown attachment received to your email & delete such emails from your mail box. See the below sample image.
This is to inform you that, A new virus Spreading these days through the email attachments. Virus is known as “CTB-locker/Ransomware” (A new generation of ransomware)& user data getting encrypted & become unusable in infected computers. To decrypt data files again need to pay money for the attackers & cannot decrypt data any other ways.
Therefor users are advised to be careful when opening email attachments or click links coming from unknown users, SPAM’s & advertisements. As the virus file icon very similar to the Adobe Acrobat Reader files (PDF file), you may mistakenly open & execute the virus & infect the virus yourself.
Modes of infection
Ø Spam emails
Ø Infected portable data transfer devices
Ø Click on an infected link
Ø An infected system in the network
How can you stay protected?
Ø Stay aware and updated
Ø Keep your systems and security solutions updated
Ø Regularly backups your files and try to have an alternative mode of storage
Ø Be cautious before you click and open email attachments
Ø Control and restrict your access points to sensitive data
Ø Use Antivirus & Spam filters from gateway level & block transferring executable files via emails (.exe,.scr,.vbs etc.) even through the ZIP file attachment.
