    Hi All,

I have a big doubt if we can trust most of the car sales in SL. I may be wrong as i am new to the car field but a person got cheated with a accident vehicle. (now car is sold for less price by informing the buyer these issues exist) so expecting experienced peoples advice. this is my recent story of finding a Toyota Aqua car. i have covered Car sales at Kirulapona, Kohuwala, Nugegoda And Malabe. All places have immense of Aqua's but no body had car's with Auction grade of 5 or above. some just told auction grade is 5.5 and 5A and stuff by which i felt they are lying.

when i asked are you sure this is accident free ? They say yes. some said check at toyota.

When i asked do you have Jaii or javic or Buero certificate ? They say yes and some says they had and its lost and some were like what is it ? (pretended as they havent heard of Jaai)

when i asked do you give warranty ? Many said yes 2 years for the batter and gear box, 3 years for the engine. very few said no. warren was at Sterling and Some at hybrid motors and some said there own.

When i asked for auction sheet they showed me Custom documents, clearing and Japan inspection sheet but not the auction sheet. but all of them were telling 4 or 4.5 rating without showing.

when i asked if the meter is reset, all of them were like no but check at toyota. some cars were really fishy because one had a 40 km 2015 March manufactured and car sale was telling its brand new and selling. but car seat packings were not there. and rating was 5. i couldnt believe how come a 40 km milage car has a rating of 5. (its should be 6,7,8 or S, correct me if i am wrong here)

when i asked do you mind putting for a inspection at Toyota, they said yes no problem and i told if car is found to be fish like Meter is reset or Accident, will you pay the 7500 paid to toyota. they were like no and only one genuine person told yes, if car was found fishy at toyota he will return the money and he also taught me many of the car sales in SL brings high milage cars and make it less than 20 000km mileage so there is a demand. and some cars they repair it and bring. so mostly if a car is less than 5000 km its most likely to be a replaced or repaired one and Milage reverted.

Now having said this i am wondering what is the best car sale to get a aqua car in Sri Lanka with ratings 5/6 or above and milage not reverted with genuine Auction sheet ?

I hope this thread will help people like me finding for Aqua's or any other vehicles in SL. please share your experience.

Please bump till someone answers and sorry for making it this long.

Toyota lanka can't check meter reset. So dont waste time over the accuracy of the meter. There are tons of ways to alter it.

But toyota lanka can check for accidents, engine, hybrid systen faults, batt status etc...

Diyatha motors at Gampaha is trustworthy. It's done by a professor of a local uni. I brought our car from them and all my friends also bring their vehicles down from them. Don't believe me just go and talk to him on a week end. They are located by the main road when you go to the Gampaha botanical gardens.

Don't think so, if you are so much in to auction grades and stuff then you have to personally import it.

Even if you buy the highest auction grade brand new vehicle with X amount more, still you will have to resell it with cheap R grades in 2nd hand market.

Better find a personally imported registered (1-2 year) vehicle with high grades and no accidents. Get it checked by Toyota Lanka for verification.
Most SL personal hybrid owners give 5 star caring for their hybrids :P

Ok many thanks and agree, i was in the same mind set but after knowing Toyota cant verify the mileage i got confused. (because mileage can tell us about the gear box condition and hybrid battery. isnt it)? are you 100% sure toyota wont tell us at least if milage has been reset (is that the reason all car sales told me go and check at toyota) :O

Btw i also heard people make fake auction sheet and jaai certificates and only way to verify it is by emailing the jaai company. it seems SL car sales are full of scams. shocked to know as i am a entry level to these car matters.

To my knowledge mileage is reset by most of car sales and even Toyota Lanka can't track it because they replace/change the Chip(IC).They do make fake JAAI certificates too. Most of cars they import are R auction grade.

I think the best option is personally import from Japan auction, cos you know the auction grade, mileage, chassis number ....etc and also you can save 3-5 laks than purchasing from local car sales.

    Good luck !!

as i know...Toyota can check the millage using back-up chip....bt the issue comes when there is some connection between the selling party and toyota company inspection staff.....

if u hav doubts better to get one imported directly
