This is not funny you moron. millions of dollars coming from this sector to the country, don't take it as a joke. Most credit card fraudulent cases in Sri Lanka are Eastern Europeans dispensing money through ATM from their own country's clone credit/debit cards. That's the reason most bank's block Sri Lanka from system. But anybody travel to SL can inform their bank and lift this block easily. So don't ruin tourism sector in SL by writing these nonsense.

This is utter rubbish. I do not use payoneer card . But other card works. Simply put there is no traveler without credit card or debit card these days.

We are not talking about locally issued cards. I can also confirm the card did not work for me (tried with a US Payoneer and Malaysian card)

Tourists/ Travellers to Sri Lanka Beware! Foreign cards not accepted in most Sri Lankan banks' ATM machines!


A recent development in the Sri Lankan banking sector is the trend towards rejection of Foreign credit and debit cards for use in local banks' ATM cash dispensers!

So anyone planning to travel to Sri Lanka are advised to bring lots of cash in hand or traveller's checks! Or better yet just go somewhere else! Sri Lanka is wasteland of muck, crap and rabid animals and the ugliest people on the planet!

Sri Lankan politicians in the Ministry of Finance don't much care for the ease of use afforded by giving foreigners access to the local ATM machines otherwise they would not have implemented this radical restriction. All they care about is stuffing their fat guts from the coffers of bribes they receive for favors.

Local freelancers who receive payments in US Dollars via the Payoneer card system are also in the same boat as these poor foreigners! This I believe is a Government ploy to make freelancers find local jobs! Make them slave away for a few Rupees instead of the US$ they would otherwise receive!

So avoid Sri Lanka and save yourselves a boatload of trouble!
