Hi there malice7,

It's great that you've decided to go with WD. :)  

The thing is that, you will not really experience any noticeable performance difference between the two. 

As you already know, WD My Passport has more features than WD Elements. Another thing is that WD My Passport has longer limited warranty compared to WD Elements.(3 years vs 1 year)

Hi there Laura_37,

In case both devices have the same warranty period, then my suggestion would be to keep the Elements. 
The main difference between those two models is the preinstalled software(which you can of course, delete) WD My Passport comes with. As you don't really need it, there would be no point in getting My Passport. 
You will not notice any performance difference.

Apart from that, it may be a good idea to check the drive's health out with WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool(both short and extended tests): [url]http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=WzUPyR[/url]

Keep in mind that you shouldn't keep data you can't afford to loose stored on one device.
