Italy are brilliant!!! It's beautiful the way they play.
Sad to say this bt Ramos hasn't been good. :baffled:
Only iniesta & De Gea is playing to their true potential.

De Gea could've gotten a red card during that goal if it wasn't a goal. And at that time he wasn't even prepared for the free kick. Along with Pique and some other players.

It's just wonderful how Conte has organized this not so special side together.
I mean the quickness which they attafck the ball with!! That free kick set play was marvelous!

:shocked:Lionel Messi planning international retirement after Copa final defeat

    lionel-messi-argentina-06262016_10vjrujl3ed511jr2wqgy9e4ng.jpg

A frustrated Lionel Messi said he is planning to retire from international soccer following Argentina's loss to Chile in the Copa America Centenario final.“The national team is over for me. That’s four finals (lost), it's not for me," Messi told reporters after losing his third final in as many years. "It’s a made decision, I think."

Sunday's match finished without goals and went to a penalty shootout, with Messi sending his shot off the mark as Chile topped La Albiceleste 4-2 from the spot.Argentina fell to Chile in penalties in the 2015 Copa America and lost to Germany in the 2014 World Cup final. Messi also was part of the 2007 Argentina side that lost to Brazil in the final.

Messi has been locked in a dispute with officials at the Argentine Football Association, taking his frustrating to social media prior to the final. But his own performance in Sunday's final also seemed to be weighing on him after the contest.
"I feel a great sadness right now that this is happening again," he said. "I missed my penalty, which was super important. That's it."

Argentina's next matches are in CONMEBOL World Cup qualification with the 2018 World Cup in Russia looming. Gerardo Martino's men sit third after six matches played.

Man City move ahead of Man Utd in race for Colombia hot-shot Marlos Moreno

    marlos-moreno-atletico-nacional_1vza0dtwhaii615xp5yc7qczr7.jpg

Manchester City are close to completing the signing of highly rated Colombia winger Marlos Moreno, Goal understands. The Premier League club have agreed to pay Atletico Nacional a deal totalling €10 million for the 19-year-old.

City believe they have beaten off rival interest from Manchester United and Benfica in the race for the speedy winger, who was also linked to Liverpool, although personal terms are yet to be finalised.Moreno is unlikely to get a work permit in the interim, and the Blues are keen to send him out on loan, most likely to Spain, for the 2016-17 season.

His rise in South America so far has been impressive. The Medellin-born forward made his debut for Atletico as a 17-year-old in 2014, and helped seal the destination of the 2015 league title when he scored the fastest goal in the club's history in the deciding match.

After just a handful of appearances for Colombia's Under-17 side he was fast-tracked to the senior team in March, and was quickly called up to Jose Pekerman's squad for this summer's Copa America, where he scored his first international goal against Costa Rica in the group stages.

That game against the Central American side was his only start at the tournament, but he was brought on at half-time of Colombia's semi-final defeat to Chile in a bid to overturn a 2-0 deficit and played a role in the third-place play-off.

City have been watching Moreno's performances closely throughout the tournament and have been sufficiently impressed to step up their interest and close out a deal.

Sanchez crowned Copa's best as champions Chile sweep awards

    alexissanchez-cropped_1ekpe7g0k46o91jhl2e4dtd8eb.jpg

Alexis Sanchez has been crowned the Copa America Centenario's best player after Chile won the tournament for the second successive year.

Defending champions Chile made it back-to-back wins with a 4-2 penalty shoot-out victory over Argentina following a goalless 120 minutes in Sunday's fiery final in New Jersey. And afterwards at MetLife Stadium, Alexis received the Golden Ball award for his efforts throughout the centenary tournament in the United States, where he scored three goals and had four assists.

Chile captain and goalkeeper Claudio Bravo took the Golden Glove for a second consecutive year after playing a starring role in the decider.

Bravo produced a stunning save to thwart Sergio Aguero in the second half of extra time and the Barca keeper denied Lucas Biglia from the spot to allow Francisco Silva to convert the winning penalty.

The 33-year-old shot-stopper – Chile's most capped player with 106 – kept three clean sheets in this year's edition of the Copa America.Meanwhile, Chile forward Eduardo Vargas won the Golden Boot, having topped the goalscoring charts with six.

Vargas, who finished level with Paolo Guerrero last year, stamped his mark on the tournament with a four-goal haul in Chile's 7-0 demolition of Mexico in the quarter-finals.

    OFFICIAL: Blanc leaves PSG

    3354022_heroa.jpg

Paris Saint-Germain have announced that Laurent Blanc has left the club by mutual consent.

Goal reported earlier this month that Blanc was set to be sacked and replaced by Unai Emery, the former Sevilla manager who won three successive Europa League titles in Spain, and PSG have now confirmed the departure of their head coach.

Blanc guided PSG to back-to-back domestic trebles in the last two seasons, but quarter-final exits in the Champions League in each of his three seasons in charge have cost him dearly.

A statement on the club's official website reads: "In a respectful atmosphere, negotiations were completed on 27 June. An agreement, by common accord, preserves the interests of both parties.

"Assistant coach Jean-Louis Gasset and head fitness trainer Philippe Lambert, also leave the club as part of the agreement.

"As the club decides to head in a new direction for the management of the first team, it wishes to thank Laurent Blanc and expresses its gratitude for the work accomplished over the last three years by Laurent and his staff.

"During his three years at the club, Laurent Blanc won 11 trophies, including two national quadruples, and left a significant mark on the great history of Paris Saint-Germain."

CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi has placed on record his gratitude to Blanc, but admits he is looking forward to the "new chapter" of the club's history.

He said: "As we embark on a new chapter in the development of the club, I would like to thank Laurent Blanc for everything he has achieved over the last three years, both in terms of the playing style and results. I wish him the best for his future challenges."

Bravo: I hope Messi continues playing for Argentina

    lionelmessi-cropped_o53jfdfhitny1eq7cnkl99reo.jpg

Chile's Copa America-winning goalkeeper Claudio Bravo hopes Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi rethinks his decision to retire from international football and continues playing for Argentina.

Emotional captain Messi stunned the football world after Argentina's 4-2 penalty shoot-out loss to Chile in Sunday's Copa America Centenario final, announcing his intention to walk away from national team duty.

Messi – the country's all-time leading goalscorer – was in tears post-match following his unsuccessful spot-kick, which led to a third consecutive final defeat for Argentina.

But Bravo, who plays alongside the five-time Ballon d'Or winner at Camp Nou, is holding onto the hope that the 29-year-old will add to his 113 caps."For me Messi is the best player in the world," said Bravo, who claimed the centenary tournament's Golden Glove award for best goalkeeper.

"We know too well the quality of person he is. I'll take the best player in the world.
"I hope he continues playing for Argentina many years."

OFFICIAL: Dani Alves completes Juventus move

    3249422_heroa.jpg

Dani Alves has completed his move to Juventus from Barcelona after signing a two-year contract with the Serie A champions.

The veteran right-back, 33, leaves Camp Nou on a free transfer after giving the Catalan outfit eight years service following a €30 million move from Sevilla.

It is a transfer that has been mooted for several weeks now, when Barcelona's technical secretary Robert Fernandez said the player "had decided" to depart.

In a statement released that same evening, the player wrote: "I am a privileged, honoured footballer, for whom life has allowed him to wear the shirt of the best club in the world in an incredible decade for the quality of its players and coaches."

And, after arriving in Turin to undertake his medical on Monday, the Brazil international sealed the transfer by committing to a contract until June 30, 2018, with the option of another year added on.

Alves enjoyed a terrific spell with Barca, winning six Primera Division crowns and the Champions League on three occasions, while he has played 93 times for Brazil.

Juve were also chasing the signing of his Blaugrana team-mate Javier Mascherano, but director Giuseppe Marotta admitted that the Catalan side will not sell him.

Juventus go all out for Champions League with Alves & Pjanic pursuits

    3223652_heroa.jpg

There's an old saying in football: 'You don't play well in finals; you win them'. May's Champions League showdown at San Siro was a perfect case in point. Real Madrid were the victors - yet there is no way that they could lay claim to being the best team in Europe.

Atletico beat two better sides in the last eight and the semis. Real weren't even the better side on the night. They are the least impressive winners of the Champions League since Chelsea in 2012.

To some sensitive souls, that might sound like the kind of bitterness propagated by the 50,000 clowns who signed a petition to have Los Blancos stripped of their first five European Cups, but it's merely a conclusion based on the fact that Real went through the entire tournament without having to face a single former winner of the continental competition.

Also, at no point during the knockout stage - the supposed business end of the Champions League - did they have to take on a domestic title winner, either from last season or the one before. Their performance in the final was average at best.

On an individual level, Sergio Ramos once again proved a man for the big occasion, Casemiro underlined both his worth and importance to Zinedine Zidane's side, while Gareth Bale ran himself into ground. However, while it was nice of Cristiano Ronaldo to turn up for the final spot-kick in the penalty shootout, in truth, Madrid's star men did not shine at San Siro.

Despite that, they found a way to win. Just as they had two years ago against the same situation. Also, this was their 11th European Cup triumph as a club. Madrid know how to win and, as Ronaldo shrewdly pointed out afterwards: "Our team showed more experience and we showed it by scoring all the penalties."

Experience and belief count for a lot when it comes to conquering Europe, which is precisely why Juventus have signed a serial winner in Alves from Barcelona.

The Bianconeri could hardly be accused of lacking winners. Several members of their squad have won five successive Scudetti, as well as back-to-back doubles. However, they have fallen short in Europe for the past two seasons.

However, as former Juve striker Gianluca Vialli told Goal: "They deservedly got to the final [two seasons ago] and they only lost to an unbeatable Barcelona side. This year, they went out to Bayern Munich but they were 30 seconds from knocking them out. So, I think that they are there or thereabouts, alongside the rest of the top clubs in Europe."
Indeed, it was difficult not to look at the final and suspect that the Bianconeri would have beaten Real; just as they did in the semis a year prior. Consequently, Juve's summer transfer strategy is about quality rather than quantity. Their primary concern is on recruiting players capable of taking that one final step towards Champions League glory. They want winners.

And while Juve are intent on adding even more experience to their ranks, they also wanted Miralem Pjanic's precision passing and set-piece skills. The former Roma ace struck 10 times in Serie A last season - on four occasions from free-kicks - and created 12 goals. He represents an ideal addition to a Juve midfield still coming to terms with the loss of Andrea Pirlo, whose presence provided poise and dead-ball deliveries of the highest order.

As Cristiano Ronaldo's Madrid underlined in May, composure and experience are precious commodities in the modern game. In signing Pjanic, and now Alves, Juve are acquiring a healthy mix of both.

English football is going to fail big time in the upcoming years. England has never had any luck in international football. And with UK leaving from the EU, the Premier League is loosing its attraction.

    It'll fail big time
