Yes it is, but in Sri Lanka it's just another religion

yes. Buddhism is mixed up with other cultural, religious things which sometimes makes is hard to distinguish it from religions like Hinduism... i personally i think it's not that bad thing if followers see the core concept of Buddhism among all other stuff that it is being mixed up with, but sadly it's not the case....
