I've started learning cryptography about 5-4 years ago, including mathematical formulas (AES-256 blowfish etc..)



Bitlocker is the safest option currently available.
Even Truecrypt is not a trusted app at all. they also suggest you to transfer ur data from truecrypt to Bitlocker


Here is a nice trick

Create a virtual hard disk file using DISKPART command in command line (.VHD)

Mount it

Encrypt it with Bitlocker.

Unmount.

Don't forget to do some research using these keywords
"memory dump bitlocker bruteforce"

Hide your key in a NTFS Alternative Data Stream

Backup that key file or Upload it into your Lastpass secure note

Activate 2 pass authentication system, (you can use google authenticator or Lastpass authenticator, or maybe some 3rd party app like Authy)

AES is AES. Regardless of who implements it, the security should be the same, provided they implemented it well. Nobody in their right minds would attempt to break AES with bruteforce. Truecrypt was open source, and now Veracrypt is too. It has gone through rigorous tests. Bitlocker isn't. Even though they both use AES, we don't know if any of them have implemented it right. I put my bets on Veracrypt because its implementation is at least open source.

Bitlocker is not available on Windows Home users, and come with a lot less portability. Veracrypt runs on almost anything you install it on (even on the ones without CPU AES-NI instructions), has a reasonably well key derivation mechanism, a bunch of features that Bitlocker doesn't offer, etc. I also read Bruce recommending Vera as well.

See if your processor has AES-NI instructions. On my laptop it can encrypt at most 1.8 GB/s. Encrypts faster than you ejaculate

You can backup your Encryption key to Microsoft Account and/or Print it and/or save on USB flash Drive and/or Save it on somewhere

no need to worry sinhaleese

currently I saved recovery key file on Microsoft Account and attached to KeePass and a USB Drive that specilly design for backup things like this.
However I'll remove it from my Microsoft account soon
