Manchester City 3 Manchester United 1: Silva, Aguero and Gundogan seal derby win

    6052740-6377601-image-a-79_1541960522504.jpg

Manchester City had little difficulty beating bitter rivals Manchester United 3-1 in Sunday's derby, as David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Ilkay Gundogan scored to leave Jose Mourinho's side 12 points adrift of the pacesetters.

Mourinho - managing his 300th Premier League match - was handed a pre-match blow in the shape of a Paul Pogba injury and United sorely missed his presence in midfield, as Pep Guardiola's men claimed victory without hitting top gear.

A breathless City opening soon dissipated after David Silva gave them an early lead, but Sergio Aguero blasted them further ahead three minutes into the second half.

An Anthony Martial penalty handed United a lifeline, but City's win rarely looked in danger and Gundogan wrapped things up late on.City's 12th-minute opener was the least they deserved for a fluid start, as David Silva fired past David de Gea from close range after Bernardo Silva had knocked Raheem Sterling's delivery back across goal.United improved slightly after falling behind, with Martial and Jesse Lingard looking bright, but clear-cut chances eluded them.

Chris Smalling went closest for United with a header which went comfortably over in the 26th minute, but otherwise the City defence was at ease in a first half of few highlights.City looked reinvigorated at the start of the second and swiftly doubled their lead.Aguero linked well with Riyad Mahrez on the edge of the box and sent a fierce strike beyond De Gea, who arguably could have done better.

Mourinho responded by introducing Romelu Lukaku from the bench and he made an immediate impact, getting hauled down by Ederson 30 seconds after coming on and Martial coolly dispatched the resulting spot-kick.

But City sealed the win four minutes from time, Gundogan slotting past De Gea after collecting Bernardo Silva's right-wing cross at the conclusion of a move that featured 44 passes.

Barcelona 3 Real Betis 4: LaLiga leaders stunned by Setien's side

    6051476-6377331-Canales_struck_the_crushing_blow_as_the_former_Real_Madrid_score-a-53_1541958539442.jpg

The returning Lionel Messi scored twice but was unable to prevent LaLiga leaders Barcelona slipping to a chaotic 4-3 defeat to Real Betis at Camp Nou.Messi – making his first appearance since fracturing his arm against Sevilla on October 20 – could only watch on as Barca's defence was ripped apart by Betis, who ended a run of eight straight defeats away to the Catalan side.

Ernesto Valverde's men started sluggishly and were punished after 20 minutes when Junior scored his second league goal of the season before veteran winger Joaquin doubled their advantage 11 minutes before the interval.

Messi pulled one back from the penalty spot after 68 minutes before Marc-Andre ter Stegen spilled Giovani Lo Celso's shot into his own net three minutes later.

Arturo Vidal gave Barca hope of a grandstand finish 11 minutes from time but Sergio Canales slid home a Betis fourth with seven minutes remaining, shortly after Ivan Rakitic was sent-off, and not even a second from Messi in stoppage time could save the hosts.

Betis started with a swagger – Joaquin blazing over after six minutes – and were rewarded in the 20th minute when Junior collected William Carvalho's pass on the left, cut inside Sergi Roberto and fired a crisp drive inside Ter Stegen's right-hand post.Pau Lopez superbly tipped over Clement Lenglet's stretching volley five minutes later before an incisive counter attack doubled Betis' advantage in the 34th minute.

Junior's low cross was met at the back post by Cristian Tello, who picked out Joaquin to slide past Ter Stegen from 10 yards for his second league goal of the campaign.Moments after firing agonisingly wide of Ter Stegen's post, Tello pulled Jordi Alba's shirt in the area and Messi slammed home the resulting spot-kick.

Ter Stegen then allowed Lo Celso's drive to slip through his grasp after 71 minutes for Betis' third before substitute Vidal finished from close range after being teed up by Munir El Haddadi.

Rakitic received a second yellow card for a foul on Lo Celso before Canales appeared to put the result beyond doubt, sliding home Junior's cross seven minutes from time, but Messi ensured there was late drama, tucking home Vidal's pass deep into stoppage time. The goal was eventually given after a VAR review for offside, but it was too little, too late for Valverde's shell-shocked side.

Arsenal 1 Wolves 1: Mkhitaryan fluke keeps Emery's unbeaten
    run going

    6052828-6377605-Henrikh_Mkhitaryan_takes_the_acclaim_after_firing_in_a_vital_equ-a-110_1541960892698.jpg

Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored a fortunate late equaliser to earn a 1-1 Premier League draw at home to Wolves, extending Arsenal's unbeaten run under Unai Emery to 16 matches.

The Gunners looked set to lose for the first time since August in any competition after struggling to fight back following Ivan Cavaleiro's early opener at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. But Mkhitaryan came off the bench to snatch a point for Arsenal, his cross from the right wing into the box evading everyone to creep into Rui Patricio's bottom-left corner with four minutes to go.

There was more late drama when Adama Traore was denied by Bernd Leno in stoppage time and Morgan Gibbs-White saw an effort crash back off the crossbar.Arsenal's third consecutive draw in the Premier League leaves the Gunners three points behind rivals Tottenham in the race for Champions League qualification, while Wolves end a three-game losing streak.

The hosts made a slow start and Cavaleiro silenced the home fans in the 13th minute.

Mesut Ozil's pass was bizarrely dummied by Granit Xhaka, Cavaleiro collected possession in midfield and swapped passes with Raul Jimenez before slotting home a tidy near-post finish.Wolves could have quickly doubled their lead, but Leno smartly saved from Helder Costa and bravely dived at the feet of Jimenez to prevent the rebound being converted.

Emery introduced Matteo Guendouzi at half-time in search of more tempo and Arsenal improved, Patricio finally called into action to tip away Lucas Torreira's long-range drive.

Hector Bellerin stabbed a good chance over with his weaker left foot in the 70th minute, then the full-back's low cross was turned on to the woodwork by Pierre-
Emerick Aubameyang, who had to score.

Arsenal finally found a way through the Wolves rearguard in the 86th minute, a short corner worked to Mkhitaryan, who sent in a cross that curled into the far corner.

Wolves should have won it in stoppage time, but substitute winger Traore was kept out by Leno when he raced through on goal, the Germany goalkeeper then making a sensational fingertip save to tip a 20-yard Gibbs-White strike on to the crossbar.

Celta Vigo 2 Real Madrid 4: Solari leads Los Blancos to fourth straight win

    6057270-6378003-Real_Madrid_striker_Karim_Benzema_opened_the_scoring_for_the_vis-a-16_1541972749422.jpg

Interim boss Santiago Solari guided Real Madrid to a fourth consecutive win in all competitions on Sunday as they eased past Celta Vigo 4-2 in LaLiga. The Argentine has steadied the ship following Julen Lopetegui's dismissal last month and will fancy his chances of landing the top job on a permanent basis with his 14-day temporary spell now at an end.

Karim Benzema was in inspired form for Los Blancos, scoring his side's first after 23 minutes with a composed finish and then forcing Gustavo Cabral into an unfortunate own goal 11 minutes into the second half.

Celta captain Hugo Mallo set up a tense final half-hour with a clinical volley, but Real – who lost Casemiro, Sergio Reguilon and Nacho to injury during the game – added late goals through Sergio Ramos' penalty and Dani Ceballos' long-range strike.Cabral's miserable night was completed late on when he received a second yellow card in between those goals, while Brais Mendez scored a late consolation for the hosts.

Real almost fell behind midway through the first half, but Okay Yokuslu's header crashed back off the inside of Thibaut Courtois' right upright.

Solari's side took advantage of that reprieve in the 23rd minute, Benzema collecting Luka Modric's pass and coolly slotting past Sergio Alvarez.Toni Kroos blazed over an open goal from Benzema's pull back 10 minutes before the interval, while Courtois got down well to deny Mendez on the stroke of half-time.

Benzema, who whipped an effort against the crossbar shortly after the restart, was also instrumental in Real's second after 56 minutes, his low shot hitting the post after squirming through Alvarez, and inadvertently turned into his own net by Cabral on the line.Mallo met Mendez's lofted ball over the top with a wonderful first-time volley past Courtois to pull a goal back for Celta five minutes later.

Any hopes of a grandstand finish were extinguished after 82 minutes, however, when Ramos scored from the spot after Alvaro Odriozola had been fouled.Cabral received a second yellow card for a lunge on Ramos before Ceballos added a fourth in stoppage time with a dipping drive from 20 yards.

Mendez added a second for Celta with a deflected strike from the edge of the area with almost the last kick of the game, but it did little to take the shine off a fine night for Solari and his side.

AC Milan 0 Juventus 2: Higuain sent off in horror show

    6058586-6377851-image-a-97_1541971201759.jpg

Gonzalo Higuain missed a penalty and was sent off in a nightmare meeting with Juventus as his woes cost AC Milan dear in a 2-0 loss at San Siro on Sunday.

Having overcome a back problem to start, Higuain - moved out on loan following Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival in Turin - might have wished he skipped the visit of his parent club after Wojciech Szczesny denied him from the spot in the 41st minute. The champions had already established an eighth-minute lead through Mario Mandzukic and made the result safe thanks to Ronaldo's sealer nine minutes from time.

An incensed Higuain then rounded out his personal horror show by reacting furiously to a booking as Juve bounced back from their midweek Champions League loss to Manchester United.

Their clean sheet, and with it a six-point lead at the top, came despite Leonardo Bonucci watching from the bench at the ground where he spent a mixed 12 months.Milan's confidence from a three-match Serie A winning streak was quickly eroded as Mandzukic climbed above Ricardo Rodriguez and met Alex Sandro's cross with a commanding downward header.

Their misery deepened just before the break with Higuain, who won the penalty via a VAR review of Medhi Benatia's handball, out-thought from the spot.Szczesny instructed his former team-mate to shoot to the left and Higuain obliged, allowing the goalkeeper to make his second penalty save against the Rossoneri.

Ronaldo, quiet in the first half, forced Gianluigi Donnarumma into a smart stop soon after the restart, before his goal arrived from a kind rebound in the 81st minute.

And, after receiving a receiving a talking to from the referee, Higuain ranted his way into an early bath to cap a miserable night for himself and Milan.

Monaco 0 Paris Saint-Germain 4: Cavani hat-trick adds to Henry woes

    6057794-0-image-a-20_1541970000915.jpg

Edinson Cavani hit a hat-trick on his return to the Paris Saint-Germain team as the Ligue 1 champions marched on with a 4-0 demolition of Thierry Henry's injury-hit Monaco.Cavani missed PSG's last two Ligue 1 wins due to a thigh injury and he was on the bench for a midweek Champions League draw against his old club Napoli.

But the striker was back in the PSG side at Stade Louis II on Sunday, scoring a trio of close-range finishes as Thomas Tuchel's men extended their perfect league record to 13 wins.

Neymar added a fourth from the penalty spot and PSG's lead atop the table already stands at 13 points while Monaco are in the mire, with Henry's side only off the bottom on goal difference. An extraordinary opening 11 minutes saw Cavani score twice with both goals initially ruled out for offside, only to then be awarded after VAR was consulted.

Neymar's cross-shot was turned in at the back post by Cavani for the opener and the Uruguay striker was soon enjoying more delayed celebrations thanks to the video replay system.Moussa Diaby beat goalkeeper Diego Benaglio to a long Neymar pass, with Cavani on hand to slot into the gaping net.

VAR was needed again before the break when Julian Draxler swapped passes with Christopher Nkunku before beating Benaglio, this time the referral system disallowing the goal for offside.Cavani grabbed his hat-trick in the 53rd minute, tapping in a Diaby cross to take his tally to eight Ligue 1 goals this season after Adrien Rabiot's throughball had split the Monaco defence.

Djibril Sidibe then brought down former Monaco team-mate Kylian Mbappe in the box, allowing Neymar to roll home a penalty to add his name to the scoresheet.Mbappe saw a late fifth ruled out for offside after yet another VAR review but the scoreline already reflected PSG's total dominance in a complete mismatch.

Chelsea 0 Everton 0: Pickford on form to halt Sarri's winning run

    6049026-6377251-image-a-106_1541951051086.jpg

Jordan Pickford was in fine form as Chelsea were held to a frustrating goalless draw at home to Everton on Sunday. The England goalkeeper was the Toffees' star performer with a string of excellent stops as Chelsea missed the chance to go top of the Premier League above Liverpool, with Manchester City able to reclaim top spot with at least a point against Manchester United.

It was a frustrating afternoon for Maurizio Sarri, who has now set a new managerial record for the best unbeaten run from the start of a Premier League career with 12, with Marcos Alonso hitting the post before Alvaro Morata had a goal disallowed for offside as Everton held firm to halt Chelsea's five-match winning run in all competitions.

Everton's winless run in the top flight at Chelsea stretches to 24, but Marco Silva's men have now been beaten just once in six league outings. The visitors might have been ahead early on had Andre Gomes kept a header down, while Bernard went close on the half-volley.

Chelsea crafted their first opening in the 40th minute – Pickford pulling off an instinctive save to keep out Alonso's wicked volley. Pickford was called into action again after the restart, diving to his right to deny Morata.

Everton responded well, Theo Walcott's poor touch letting Chelsea off the hook before Gylfi Sigurdsson forced Kepa Arrizabalaga into a fine save.Pickford was at his best again soon after, making two fantastic stops from a pair of Eden Hazard attempts, although Everton's goalkeeper was beaten when Alonso's strike clipped the post.

Everton's resolve seemed to have been broken when Morata tucked home in the 72nd minute, but the offside flag came to their rescue, with Ross Barkley's late introduction against his former club unable to inspire Chelsea to victory.

Liverpool 2 Fulham 0: Salah and Shaqiri see off strugglers

    6046886-6377205-image-a-110_1541945528467.jpg

Liverpool bounced back from their Champions League disappointment on Tuesday with a comfortable 2-0 win over struggling Fulham at Anfield.Goals in each half from Mohamed Salah and Xherdan Shaqiri secured all three points on Sunday and moved Jurgen Klopp's side back to the top of the Premier League table, at least temporarily.

Liverpool were held by Arsenal in their last league outing before a 2-0 loss to Red Star Belgrade this week, and they looked some way short of their best in a first half in which Fulham had the best chances.

However, the game turned within the space of 14 first-half seconds, when Salah struck after Aleksandar Mitrovic had a header ruled out for offside, and Shaqiri's fine finish made the win secure against a Fulham side who have now lost seven games in a row and remain bottom.Liverpool's early dominance of the ball led to a personal duel between Salah and Sergio Rico, the Fulham goalkeeper twice making good saves to deny forward.

Shaqiri twice messed up shots from good positions and the home side's profligacy should really have been punished, with Ryan Sessegnon dragging wide when clean through on goal before Alisson almost parried an Andre Schurrle shot into his path. The half swung Liverpool's way in dramatic fashion four minutes before the break.Mitrovic headed in Tom Cairney's cross only to be contentiously ruled offside, Alisson took a quick free-kick and Trent Alexander-Arnold sent Salah clean through to slot past Rico.

It was a heavy blow to Fulham and the game was effectively beyond them eight minutes after the restart, when the unmarked Shaqiri expertly volleyed home a pinpoint cross from Andy Robertson.

Robertson was denied a third by a good Rico save, but Liverpool had few problems seeing out a ninth league win of the season, while concerns for Slavisa Jokanovic look to be building.

Manchester United target Skriniar discussing new Inter contract, confirms agent

Inter defender Milan Skriniar is in talks over the prospect of a new contract, according to his agent.

The centre-back is said to have received offers from five major clubs during the transfer window, but ultimately decided to stay at San Siro.Manchester United are reportedly considering an approach in January for the 23-year-old, though, as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his shaky defence.

However, Skriniar's agent, Karol Csonto, claims they are already talking about a new deal with Inter, even though his current terms are not due to expire until June 30, 2022."We're talking about it," he told Tuttomercatoweb . "We're working on it. It's a subject we'll be facing more intensively over the next few months."

Csonto insists Skriniar is enjoying life with Inter, where he has developed into one of Europe's best young defenders since signing from Sampdoria last year."He is happy with the Nerazzurri shirt, he is playing well, but he is aware there are some difficulties in Serie A," he said.

"Inter had won seven games in a row prior to the loss against Atalanta. He is doing well. I'm happy."He is happy to be playing in the Champions League. Clearly, the goal is to grow with the team and improve day by day."Skriniar said back in August that he never thought about leaving the club, though he did admit interest from Manchester United.

Barcelona were also among the clubs reportedly chasing the defender this summer, though he now seems set to stay put with the Serie A side as they attempt to challenge Juventus' dominance in the league.

Inter sit third in the league, nine points back of unbeaten Juve and four back of Napoli.Jose Mourinho's Manchester United sit in considerably worse shape, eighth in the Premier League and 12 points back of leaders Manchester City, who they lost to in a derby clash on Sunday.

Mourinho has left no doubt over his want for a new centre-back for his side, with the club having shipped 21 goals in 12 games so far this season, but it now seems as though he'll have to turn away from the Slovakia international.

Solari signs three-year deal to remain as Real Madrid manager

    6141418-6385877-image-a-9_1542136309988.jpg

Santiago Solari has signed a three-year contract to remain Real Madrid manager through the 2020-21 season.

Named interim boss after Julen Lopetegui's sacking, Solari has guided Madrid to four wins from four games in charge thus far.As Madrid's search for a permanent boss from outside the club failed to bear fruit, Solari has impressed by restoring an air of calm to the dressing room following a tumultuous period under Lopetegui.

The Argentine manager has now signed a contract ensuring he and his staff will remain in charge at Santiago Bernabeu for the rest of the current season, and two more subsequent campaigns after that.

Madrid's search for a new manager initially focused on former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, but the Italian eventually ruled himself out of the running until at least the summer. In the meantime Solari, who had previously been in charge of Madrid's reserve side, began achieving results that his predecessor had failed to accomplish.

Last week's Champions League win at Viktoria Plzen marked the first time all season that Madrid had won three straight games, and the Blancos followed that up by defeating Celta Vigo 4-2 on Sunday.

"The truth is that we are very happy with him," Madrid director Emilio Butragueno told Movistar+ after the win at Celta."There is no doubt that he came at a very particular moment and has been able to achieve very good results."

The win at Celta gave Solari four wins from four games in charge, with 15 goals scored and just two conceded. Those four victories have come in three different competitions, with three of them coming away from home.

Solari has also been able to more successfully integrate new faces like Thibaut Courtois, Vinicius Jr, Alvaro Odriozola and Sergio Reguilon into the side.

"This team has nothing to do with [Lopetegui's side]," a Madrid source told Goal .
Armed with a new deal, Solari will look to keep Madrid's run going against Eibar on November 24.
