You are correct they started under ground construction 96-97 time.


Sadly Phase III of baseline widening and extension from Kirulapone to Maliban junction never got kick off


Again they are going to start flyover near kirulapone junction near future

Yeah, It was supposed to extend the baseline up to Maliban Junction. I remember, One of my friend's home near Rathmalana Airport also marked to demolish due to this.

ඔය පොටෝ එක කොයි කාලෙ ගත්තු එකක්ද බන් ? 1980 ? දැන් ඔතන නේද අර under ground pedestrian crossing tunnel එක හදල තියෙන්නෙ ?

This photo must have taken after 1983. That Land Rover Defender model manufactured after 1983.
Not only that, there was no any pavement along the Baseline road before 1983 july disturbances. After shops being burnt down, authorities must have left some footpath room along Baseline road.
There was only one proper hotel in Borella in the 70s, which was Maliban Hotel located where that yellow billboard (just left of lion beer ad.) is.
I am not sure when this roundabout being built. There was a very small roundabout (about 2M in diameter) with a raised stage with a hood (roof)for the traffic constable to direct the traffic.
There was a pharmacy called Terminus Pharmacy also in this vicinity. It's named Terminus Pharmacy due to the tram terminus.

මේක එච්රරම පරණ නෑ බන් 90' මුල වගේ ...මට යන්තම් මතකයි ඔතන , ඔය පෙන්නේ බේස් ලයින් එකයි, මරදාන පාරයි. ඔතන හන්දියේම දාස බිල්ඩින් එක තිබුනා. ඒ දවස්වල එක තමයි ලොකුම සුපර් මාර්කට් එක. ඔය වතුර ටැංකිය පෙන හරියේ ලොකු මාරගස් දෙකක් එකලග තිබුනා (මරදාන පාරට වැටෙන අතුරු පාරේ මුල) එතන ලෑලි කඩේක පත්තර විකුනනවා . අපි හොරෙන් හොරෙන් ගිහින් මුලින්ම වැල පත්තර ගත්තේ එතනින් !!! ඒ කලේ අපි ආණ්ඩුවෙන් පොත් දෙනකම් බලන් හිටියේ නෑ , අමාරුවෙන් පත්තර අරන් තනියම ඉගන ගත්තා ....
