Connecting Mouse TO DVR-16ch OVER Ethernet CAT5 Cable????

I want to connect a Mouse to the DVR over distance of 20m by using CAT5 Cable.

    I used the following solution

    USB-MOUSE > USB-RJ45 Extension Adapter > CAT5 Ethernet 20m Cable > RJ45-USB Extension Adapter > USB Port of DVR

The Result : The mouse moves and freezes then moves then again it freezes.

I believe since the DVR does not have proper OS to communicate with USB-RJ45 Extension Adapters due to lack of software drivers to this specific Hardware adapaters located in the DVR software.

Is there a RELIABLE way to connect a USB wired mouse OR wireless mouse
through a CAT5 Ethernet cable??? Please let me know about it. :nerd::nerd:

    Thanks.

There are active USB extender cables. These do have a Genesys chipset inbuilt inside the standard USB connector of the cable.
I have never tried on a DVR but using with Group Chat Speaker/Microphones. No problems at all.
Also there are powered USB extenders. Over long distances these are more reliable.

Are these connecting devices externally powered or do they get power from the USB port? If so could be a power issue rather than a driver issue....

Thanks guys for the views and your replies. Much appreciated

So I managed to give a solution.

First and foremost I tested the CAT5 cable for Continuity with the Cable Tester. Result was GOOD. and over the long distance there was no drop in packets indicated in the Tester.

Then I did notice the CAT5 I was using was a straight through cable.

The I did a proximity test by using a shorter CAT 5 cable like 8-10 feet with USB-RJ45 Extension adapters connections From the DVR as illustrated before, WITH a Wired USB MOUSE. Surprise it WORKED. :baffled:

What baffles me is why it does not work over the long distance??? So I switched to WIRELESS MOUSE. I plugged the USB Adapter for the Wireless MOUSE on to the endpoint of the USB-RJ45 ExAdapter, by using the long distance CAT5 cable.

BIG SURPRISE IT WORKED. GOOD. :baffled::baffled:

So i believe that the circuit-board on the DVR comes with pre-loaded drivers for Wireless mouse that can be used over long distance rather than USB Wired mouse. ITS FUNNY.

Hopefully an EXPERT can give a observed reply.

I thought it has happened because of the lack of power

:) That's exactly why I asked the question below from him. He didn't reply to that.....

sorry mate for d late reply...they get power from the USB port...maybe give me an answer in how much ohms does a CAT5 cable uses and USB cable uses???
