btw how much a difference does the DAC make as opposed to directly plugging the headphones into equipment?

Thanks! I think it was like 400 Euros for the headphones.
I think most DACs on desktop PCs are pretty decent. However, they might not be able to drive headphones with high impedance drivers. Specially in terms of power output. Build-in DACs usually have low sampling rate and a bit depth though. If you have high quality flac files that are recorded at higher sampling rates and bit depth, you might not actually be able to hear some of the details in music.
DACs are almost useless if the music source is of low quality like mp3, spotify or youtube.

I freaking love listening to "Far over the misty mountains" with it.

No issues so far. The sound quality is superb.

But if you have an optical out in your device, go for the Z625 model for even better audio.
