This was a long time ago, when Sirima came to power she had an alliance with the leftist party (LSSP). I was in grade 5 at that time so didn't know the political intricacies at that time. All I can remember is it was not a good time, we were suffering a lot. Looking back if she stopped imports gradually and introduced local manufacturing to supplement the imports maybe it would have been a good thing. This is the same mistake our current president is trying to do with fertilizer. He should stop Chemical fertilizer gradually and introduce organic fertilizer to supplement. If you try to do something overnight without thinking about the hardships the citizens will face that policy is going to fail. I left the country in 1976, so I didn't experience the end.so what caused it and how did it progress from stat to end?
