Mehamai machan, you cannot plan for every security breach. What you can do is to use the max amount that is avaiable to you. OTP is something that is very good when it comes to protecting you against unauthorized access.

Also the same logic they used in that article can be used here. What is your answer if I say "don't use websites that don't ask for OTP?"

If someone steals your CC, report it to the bank and block the thing. to swipe the card you don't need CVV in the first place.

If someone online stole it you still would get an suspcious alert which makes you follow the above.

when it comes to security machan it isn't just job one party can do, everyone has reponsiblities.

Jan 12 වෙනිදා උදේ 7.40ට මට LOLC එකෙන් Call කරලා ඇහුවා මිස්ගෙ Credit Card එකෙන් LKR 86,169 ක පේමන්ට් එකක් Daraz එකට වෙලා තියෙනවා ඒක මිස් කරපු පේමනට් එකක්ද කියලා. ළඟකදි කිසිම දෙයක් Daraz එකෙන් order නොකරපු මම දුවලා ගිහින් බැලුවම credit card එක ඒ වෙනකොටත් purse එකේ තිබුනා. ඒ call එකෙන්ම credit card එක block කලත් එවලෙ call center agent කිව්ව් ඊට දවස් දෙකකට කලිනුත් LKR 5,300ක Order එකකට සල්ලි කැපිලා Daraz එකටම කියලා. ඒකෙ msg එක ආවත් මං ඒක දැකලා නැහැ. Transaction දෙකම වෙලා තිබුනෙ OTP එකක් නැතුව. ඒ වෙලාවෙම Daraz එකට call කලත් එයාලා දිගින් දිගටම කිව්වෙ අධිකරණ නියෝගයක් නැතුව එයාලට order එක hold/cancel කරන්න බැහැ කියන එක. මං police entry එකත් එක්ක Daraz එකට ගියා, එයෙලගෙ customer support එකට email කලත් එයාලගෙ උත්තරේ වුනේ අධිකරණ නියෝගයක් ඕනිමයි කියලා. Daraz Online Shopping I’m so disappointed about your customer service.

Card එක active කලේ 6 වෙනිදා නිසා මං මේක වැඩිය use කරලා තිබුනෙ නැති නිසා card details ගන්න ඇති කියලා මට සැක හිතුන තැන් 2ක් තිබුනා. අන්තිමට අධිකරණ නියෝගයක් අරගන Daraz එකෙන් order එක දාපු කෙනාගෙ details අරගන බලනකොට මේක කරලා තිබුනෙ මෑතකදි මම ගිය පිලියන්දල Hotel එකක Room Boy කෙනෙක්. Payment එක කරන්න card එක දීපු වෙලාවෙ එයා card details අරගන.

ඔයාලට කියන්න තියෙන්නෙ කොහේ හරි ගිහින් bill එක ගෙවන්න card එක waiter/room service කෙනෙක් අතේ යවනවා නම්, පරිස්සමෙන්.

again you can be vigilant and report if you notice a fraudulent transaction.

Also "best way to be secure with CCs not to use CCs"

Read the post I've quoted above, the bank isn't liable for damages incurred by misusing the cc you have on your person - simply covering the CVV could spare you from a tedious legal process

learn to live with the risk. Also note that the way of stealing your CVV would be in the form of cyber crimes rather than photographing them

I remember SLT requiring to write your CC#, date of expiry and CVV on a piece of paper those days. now they don't do it like that. I once asked how do you guarantee that you dispose these securely. they didn't have an answer to that.

Why should I if I could mitigate most of the risk with literally zero effort

Got a commercial security suite (Kaspersky) to mitigate that risk as much as possible - like you yourself said, one should do their best
