One of the major concerns in Sri Lanka is the general lack of public awareness regarding basic first aid.

When an accident occurs bystanders often rush in and handle victims improperly grabbing them roughly lifting them placing them in chairs or even offering water.

These actions can significantly worsen spinal cord/ neck or internal injuries.

Unless there is an immediate danger such as fire or ongoing traffic the safest approach is to leave the injured person flat on the ground keep them calm and still and wait for trained medical personnel.

While it's true that ambulance availability is limited in many areas basic awareness and restraint from unnecessary handling can prevent severe complications or permanent disability.
