Most of oil/gas resources are either under performing/being attacked (Ex. Gulf/Russia, Except Norway etc.). At the moment USA seems the biggest supplier of oil. (Venezuela etc. also under their control)
Venezuela was China's one of largest supplier of oil before USA took over it. Now China's supply of oil is severely threatened and that could lead to an economic crisis (in the long-run) in China and the winner will be USA if that happens.

This is just one aspect and there are so many other factors at plat at the moment.
