Lol!! it`s just the name "Pajero". The real Pajero, based on the bespoke Pajero architecture will never be made again.
This is just the newer model of the Montero Sport (or Pajero Sport). Different body on the Triton (L200) chassis.
Solid axel at the back and ladder chassis from a pickup truck. Nothing like the last Pajero`s monocoque body and all independent suspension.
There will be lots of cringe worthy cabin lights, screens and other tech though.

Yeah, it`s not difficult to make an EV offroader bro.. Ladder chassis, battery pack in the middle and 4 motors in each corner.. That`s all you need really.. Can easily make the whole thing water-proof too.. No engine to go bust after a river crossing..
Thing is, there`s no real market for proper 4WD`s these days, consumer sentiment has changed and everybody wants SUV`s.. Real 4WD`s may sell in the middle east and Australia etc.. but they wont sell in numbers..

I'm a huge fan of the simplicity, durability and the offroadability of ladder chassis. I take your point about independent suspension which still could have been incorporated with the ladder chassis.
In the past, only Sri Lankans used their 4x4s strictly on smooth tarmac. Now it seems the whole world is buying 4x4s and 4x4-lookalikes just to drive to work or drop kids at school.
