BREAKING
Sudden decision in 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐜𝐨 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐬 Salary Deduction!!!
YOUR SALARY CAN DISAPPEAR BEFORE YOUR JOB DOES.
And that is the part every IT professional needs to understand.
Recent discussions and reports surrounding Sysco LABS Sri Lanka have raised serious concerns among employees about changes to USD-pegged salary allowances and the potential impact on take-home pay.
According to discussions circulating among employees and online IT communities, the allowance may be reduced in stages — potentially from 50% to 25%, and eventually to zero.
If these reports are accurate, some employees could face a significant reduction in their monthly income.
But here is the bigger lesson.
A job can be "permanent."
Your income is not.
Your role is not.
And your company is not obligated to protect your career forever.
Three years ago, many Sri Lankan companies introduced or increased dollar-linked compensation to retain skilled employees during an economic crisis.
Today, the business environment is different.

Companies are restructuring.

AI is changing the way work is done.

Costs are being reviewed.

And businesses are making decisions based on their own survival and profitability.
This is not about blaming employees or employers.
It is about understanding the reality of today's job market.
Never build your entire financial future around one company.
And never assume that because you have worked for a company for 5, 10, or 15 years, your position is guaranteed.

Your real job security is your employability.

Your skills.

Your experience.

Your professional network.

Your ability to move to another company when you need to.
And one more important lesson:

If a payment or allowance is not clearly guaranteed in your employment contract, don't automatically treat it as permanent income.

Understand what is fixed.

Understand what is variable.

Understand what can be changed.

Understand what you have actually agreed to.
My advice to every IT professional is simple:
Don't wait for a salary cut to start preparing for your next opportunity.

Keep learning.

Keep upgrading your technical skills.

Stay connected with the industry.

Build your professional network.

Keep your CV updated.

Always know your market value.
Because the reality is uncomfortable:
This can happen to you tomorrow
The best time to prepare for a career shock is before it happens.
Don't just protect your job.
Protect your employability.
