Joaquin Phoenix played the role of the Emperor's true son. He kills the Emperor and becomes the new emperor and orders the death of Maximus and his family.

Dont say you dont know Joaquin Phoenix. He played Johnny Cash in "Walk The Line" and won awards for it as well.

yeah he played commodus then ..liked him.. he was epic. poor guy..what did they expect..he was brought up convinced that oneday he's gna inherit the throne and king gives it to another...very, very bad.

10 of best movies i recently watched. not in a particular order.

one of best performance by any actor in this one by al pacino.

made it to best movies ive seen...a true classic and a keeper.

speaking of great acting and good movie making

what a amazing script can do without special effects and much effort.

raw, realistic, disturbing, emotional...saw this a few months ago though ..but got much better upon second viewing.

up there with martin scorsese's bests.

funny extremely witty and smart..funniest movie i saw in a while.

my favorite from coen brothers..and very under-rated.

very surreal ..totally loved it..and should be seen more than once.

another great british comedy.
