In the sleepy town of Vine Creek, preacher and volunteer fireman Joe Cass (John Ritter) wakes up to realize his family and community are at a breaking point. Joe decides to take control of his life and must prove his bravery when he is called to save a child trapped inside a burning building. Lost inside the inferno, a mysterious fireman helps them to safety and quickly disappears. As Joe waits for the mystery fireman to come forward, rumors circulate throughout Vine Creek that the apparition was an angel sent from above. Man of Miracles is a heartfelt family drama of a man struggling to maintain his faith and save his family.

Molokai: The Story of Father Damien (1999)

Exile to Molokai was the means with which leprosy was dealt with in the Hawaiian Islands during the late 1800s. Molokai was an untamed isle located between the islands of Oahu and Maui. Abandoned for all extents and purposes, the lepers attempted to scrape out a living in their squalor without outside aid or care. Enter the courageous Father Damien. He was the first priest to go to Molokai. And even though his bishop strictly warned him that "he must not touch anyone," Father Damien risked his life and health to reach out to the suffering.

Gradually, Father Damien was able to gain the trust of the lepers. Additionally, and more importantly, his cries for additional help were heard and heeded by others. The success of his appeals was unbelievably dismaying to superiors who were more interested respect and riches than reaching out to the suffering.

Eventually, as expected Father Damien was also afflicted. This, however, only seemed to provide him with an even greater drive to ameliorate the conditions of his now "fellow" lepers. After collapsing during Mass, he was carried to the very hospital that he himself had established where he died. There is a touching seen when all gather to pray for him at the hospital's entrance.

This movie reminds us in many way of our God. God is ever willing to help us and for our salvation he sent his only son to die on the cross. But sinners that we are, we reject his love and his invitation. We are obsessed by our own righteousness and feel that we do not need God to be saved. Hence we have closed our ears and our eyes to the message of the Bible. We feel that we deserve heaven on our own merit. Some of us even mock God thinking that he does not exist.

But know that, sinner or saint no one deserves heaven on his own merit. Even if you have closed your eyes and your ears, God will never give up on you. He will try to reach you in all ways possible through various people. But he will never force himself on you. That choice to accept or reject God is in your hands. Only question that remains is whether you will be saved before it is too late?

From the Manger to the Cross or Jesus of Nazareth is a 1912 American motion picture filmed on location in Palestine which tells the story of Jesus' life. Directed by Sidney Olcott who also appeared in the film, actress and screenwriter Gene Gauntier wrote the script and portrayed the Virgin Mary. The film received excellent reviews at the time of its original release and after Vitagraph Studios acquired Kalem they reissued it in 1917. According to Turner Classic Movies, the film cost $35,000 to produce (Roughly between $1,600,000 and $3,300,000 adjusted to 2007 dollars), and its profits eventually amounted to almost $1 million (roughly $46,000,000 to $95,000,000). Turner considers it to be the most important silent film to deal with the life of Christ. In 1998, the United States Library of Congress deemed the film "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry
