There are many threads about Politics in Sri Lanka.....
Some people just say stuff without knowing the unfalse truth
..
Some people don't know about the politics of our country..
Some are aware of the US or other foreign political stuff but they don't know a thing about our dear country's politics.
Don't worry...this is not a really loong thread
Okay so I will not post in detail but I will just give you an overview of our country and it's political history
I will give in points.....

>Sri Lanka is a democratic country...just like almost all of the other countries
The official name of Sri Lanka is 'Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka'
>The official or the administrative capital of Sri Lanka is Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte
(actually it should have been Moratuwa but the Moratu Gangziya mekata virudda vunu bawin ema adahasa ath hariya)
>The Country is divided into 9 Provinces and it is further divided into 25 districts.
>The largest city by population is Colombo (3rd is Moratuwa....yipee!!!)
>The population of Sri Lanka is around 20-21 million (oya marry karata passe thawa 1k 2k wadi wei)
>Turning to Politics there were and are two major political parties... United National Party and People Alliance.
>This is the list of Presidents of Sri Lanka.
William Gopallawa (No Party)
Junius Richard Jayewardene (UNP)
Ranasinghe Premadasa (UNP)
Dingiri Banda Wijetunge (UNP)
Chandrika Kumaratunga (PA)
Mahinda Rajapaksa (UPFA)
UNP has got 3 presidents while the other party has got 1 president.
After PA became UPFA by joining in other political parties it got 1 president elected.
>Sri Lanka made a new Constitution in 1978. This brought lots of changes to Sri Lanka. If you want to learn about the constitution..which contains all the laws as well you can buy it in some shops....

Mahinda Rajapaksa
The current Prime Minister is
Ratnasiri Wickremanayake
>In the by-gone Presidential Election over 13 million voters voted in the election.
>Brief History of UNP:
UNP's colour is green
Sign is the elephant
Founded in 1946
Don Stephen Senanayake founded the UNP
UNP won 4 straight Presidential Terms
>Brief History of UPFA:
Formed after the People's Alliance was defeated by the UNP in 2001

>JVP is considered as the third strongest party in Sri Lanka.
>Current Leader of UPFA is Mahinda Rajapakshe

>There are many many issues about the political arena of our country at the moment....UNP is loosing it's strongholds at an amazing rate..but that is due to the victory gained by the army under the SLFA (or wotever it is)...and if you take the Government view....there are huge charges of corruption, educational issues, and the prices of goods.....hmmm..every country has it's problems 
hmmm and Sri Lanka has lots of problems too...but we are Sri Lankans and whatever problems we have we must go throught them without a lot of fuss....well Sri Lanka is governed by humans by the way
