Hmmm...I wouldn't choose either of them...both of them have too many problem and faults.....the Omnia HD has great hardware, but not the software to fully take advantage of that hardware.....the N97 is a good phone, but has too many problems for the price.....

If you want a touchscreen phone, I recommend the iPhone 3GS, or the Nokia 5800XM, ( the 5530XM is a good option, but no 3G)

however....the N86 is an excellent phone...I know it doesn't have a touchscreen, but everything else is excellent...brilliant screen, great audio, excellent 8 megapixel camera....I don't know what missing in it.......try the N86

Between the two I'd pick the Samsung Omnia HD. They both run the Symbian 9.4 Rel 5 OS. So support for 3rd party applications is same. Besides, Samsung beats N97 in almost all aspects except for a physical keyboard. Which is nice, but I wouldn't compromise everything else for a keyboard.

Omnia HD has a power efficient ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz chip with 3D hardware acceleration where as N97 has an ARM 11 434 MHz with no dedicated 3D hardware acceleration. Since these two processors are different, you cannot compare the raw performance based on the clock speed alone, but 3D hardware acceleration is definitely a plus for the Omnia. And since Cortex A8 series is aimed at power efficient computing, it might give a slight advantage in battery life too.

My last 3 phones were Nokia (including the current one), and before that SE (non smartphones). So I don't have any experience with Samsung either. But Omnia HD has received good reviews on the net, so it should be good. Don't know where it is made though, but most likely Korea.
