Dark rock ( Death, Doom etc. ) came to the surface as to get an audience like alternative but did not survive. I mean it is there still but couldn't make it sensible like the Aucoustic Rock or Alternative Rock.

hmm each to their own, if extreme metal is only enjoyed by a minority that's about it..
and doom didn't come to surface to get an audience as a matter of fact its much older than alt rock and even death metal and it still remains one of most underground subgenres even by general metal standards. im not going to talk about death metal though which is hopeless..
