Two soldiers killed in Mannar, search on for suspect
Three soldiers in the Paranthakadathan area of Mannar had been fired upon by another person, also suspected to be a member of the armed forces, Police Spokesman Senior DIG Nimal Mediwaka said. Two of the soldiers had succumbed to their injuries following the attack.
Senior DIG Mediwaka said that the third soldier who had received injuries had been admitted to the Mannar Hospital, following the incident that had taken place at around 10.30 last night.
The Police Spokesman added that the suspect involved in the firing had fled the scene soon after, taking with him his weapon.
Police in Mannar are conducting investigations into the incident and a search is ongoing in the area for the suspect. (RR)
