BEGINNING OF A WAVE OF UNP VICTORIES: BUDDHIKA PATHIRANA

The election on October 10 heralds the beginning of a wave of UNP victories, says Buddhika Pathirana, UNP group leader for the Matara district.
Addressing a media briefing yesterday, Pathirana, who obtained the highest number of preferential votes among the UNP candidates at the Saturday's poll, said that people of the south had given him victory over all other candidates from the three districts with 61.09 percent preferential votes.

“We have taught the government a bitter lesson from the South. This election has heralded the beginning of the UNP's wave of victories. Compared to Uva, we have increased our votes by at least a single decimal point as well,” he said.
