Got good hardware support. Identified all the hardware on my laptop out of the box and all are working.

whatz dat command? fschk or fsck? what should i do? do i have to give any parameters?

fsck is the command. You have to pass the id of the hard drive.
example :
fsck -p -c -v /dev/sda
-p = auto repair
-c = check for bad blocks
-v = be verbose

/dev/sda = id of the hard drive. All hardware are listed as sub folders of /dev/ you have to find out the correct folder for your disk.

To findout the hard disk drive id and partiton info og your system, run as root :
fdisk -l

try with the onboard open drivers.
However ATI has very poor linux support so keep your fingers crossed at best.

Itz all working now.. thanks for you support. The soundcard is working too.. everything seems perfect. except xfce.. I installed gnome over it

thats only for the catalyst 9.8 card. If that's your card, you can install it.
Doesnt Hanthana load a GUI at all on your hardware ?
