Chief of Defence Staff General Sarath Fonseka is likely to hand in his resignation today (November 12) informed sources told this morning.
This is following a meeting with President Mahinda Rajapaksa and several others yesterday where General Fonseka is said to have intimated his desire to resign, according to sources.
The General has been in the centre of speculation recently after the main opposition had publicized that he would be the common candidate of the opposition alliance in a future Presidential election.
