How-to - network a Desktop and Latop

Pls anyone help me with this problem ,

How do i network a Laptop with Desktop but the Desktop computer has a Network card that's used Ethernet internet via a router so hopefully you guys at EK can give a solution to my problem

configure the Ip address if it does not configure automatically .

name it as whatever u want>next>turn on file& printer sharing>next>finish the wisard>restart..

run thz on both machines, gv the same wrkgroup name

Thanks dude,the network card in the desktop is used for the Ethernet Internet so can not use it for the network ,

i plugged in another Network Card the NIC doesn't get recognized by the system !

thanks i tried this and it worked, but i use the Laptop's Wireless adapter to access the desktop via the wireless router , in this manner ..

Guys only way is for you to hook up to the router (i have wireless also) using a Ethernet cable and configure the network setting , but the my router is in different location , i'm unable to draw a cable that long .

instead i use the laptop's wireless to access the wireless router , but only 54 mbps not enough to watch a movie on the network taking into consideration the average signal strength it worth to copy the software updates,aleast for now !
