It has been a very widespread talk, floating in the air, that they were gay. It is surprising that you are not aware of it.

You are right. It is nearly impossible to get any definite evidence.

By the way, this afternoon, I took part in Sir Arthur C. Clarke commemoration meeting. When he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth, the British tabloid 'Daily Mirror' said he was gay. The result - there was a big ha ho.

But, finally, DM apologised to Sir Arthur and published the apology in the paper with much prominence. Sir Arthur then generously accepted the apology and agreed not to sue DM.

So, we must take care not to insult people.

But I agree that there is no harm in poking fun at public figures (politicians). They must be prepared to face that if they want to do politics.
