A group including the Chairman of Deraniyagala Pradeshiya Sabha that had broken into the Pradeshiya Building has threatened the Divisional Secretary, cut his throat with a razor and had run away.
Anil Munasinghe, the chairman of the Pradeshiya Sabha, who carries on an illegal timber racket with the blessings of UPFA strong men, had led the attack on the Divisional Secretary who took measures to stop the racket.
The Divisional Secretary Saman Anura who was gravely injured in the incident was admitted to Karawanella Hospital. His condition is very grave and at the moment he is being operated on say hospital sources.
