(Lanka-e-News, Dec.21, 2009, 7.50PM) The budget presented at the Ukuwela PC by the UPFA ruling party was defeated by when four of the UPFA Members voted with the Opposition today (21).
The ruling UPFA at this Provincial Council has 8 members while the Opposition has 6 members. When the voting on the budget was taken today, UPFA Vice Chairman Mahanama dissanayake, Gamini kulatunge, Chulanga Purajjala and Jayantha Munaweera voted with the Opposition against the budget, according to opposition member ASM Ibrahim as reported to Lanka e news.
The PC was convened under the Chairmanship of Amantha Dharmasena.
It is interesting to note that at the voting on the budget at Maharagama PC too where the ruling party is holding the majority it was defeated.
