I use the 9500GT 1gb.
Its good enough for me. Its not great but its generally good enough for daytoday use.
Here is a list of games i've played

-Farcry2 (medium high noAA)
-RedAlert3 (high noAA)
-Doom3 (ultra) (kindda old game but its not bad : )
-CoD 4, 5 and 6 (high noAA)
-PoP 2008 (high 2xAA)
-GTA IV (low but no lag got around )
-Fallout3 (high noAA)
-Most Wanted (max)
-AoE II (high but streched in my widescreen)
-AoM and AoE III (max)
-Dark Sector (high)
-Mirrors edge(high)

To brake it down for you, You can prettymuch play any game released before 2008 with highest settings and when it comes to the newer games like GTA IV the card will struggle. If you don't plan to do a whole lot of gaming I'd say go for it.
But if you are serious about gaming buy a 9600 or even better 9800GT.

try to get ddr3 if possible.
