but think if we also brought originals then Microsoft and companies will reduces the 300 200 dollar stuff to as low as 25 or so...coz many ppl will buy.....

Besides % value of Software Piracy is not really a big issue its the amount in $$ that software companies looking at..

For example:

90% software piracy in Sri Lanka would mean that at least 18 million people using pirated software

now compare that to China's 96% piracy rate from 1.3 billion people!

I don't know the methodology they used but I'm sure CHINA has more than 2 million PC users!

Anyway my point was, measuring by % doesn't tell you much, companies would care about how much money they will loose and in which country!

If China has 50 million PC users @ 82% piracy rate, still CHINA is a top concern for Software makers than Sri Lanka!
