Main Focus on Developing Education
President Mahinda Rajapaksa told people in Jaffna that his main focus would be on developing education in the peninsula during his second term. Addressing over 15,000 people at an election rally, the President said that it is the responsibility of all to ensure a better future of the next generation.
In order to secure a better future for the children in the Jaffna peninsula, president said that the main focus of the development drive would be on education.
Speaking about the rights of the Tamil people, the President said that his government has removed fear and suspension of all citizens.
He pointed out that the his government has been able to resettle the displaced successfully and the people in the North can now breath freedom.
The rally was held at Dorai Appa stadium in Jaffna.
The President this morning made his first visit to Jaffna after liberating the country from terrorism. He was given a warm welcome by the people in Jaffna with thousands of people gathered on the roadsides to cheer him.
The President on his way from Naga Viharaya to Nallur Kandasamy Kovil met the people on foot and spoke to them cordially. Many people thanked President Rajapaksa for liberating them from the clutches of terrorism. The President also met Jaffna Bishop at the Bishop house.
