“Anyone who has read Rohitha Bhashana’s rag Hiru knows quite well that he is an out and out Tiger spokesman – although the police seemed to have paid no attention to it. During the time I worked for the UPFA Presidential Elections Media Unit at Temple Trees in 2005-2006, we used to regularly monitor this tabloid which was then sold openly at newspaper stands in Colombo. There was not a single reference in the paper to LTTE atrocities but all accusations were leveled at the Sri Lankan armed forces and the Sri Lankan State. According to Bhashana only the State police and government troops committed human rights violations that justified LTTE’s Tamil liberation struggle.”

How did two notorious Sinhala Tigers manage to evade the law and flee the country? The two fugitives Rohitha Bhashana Abeywardena and Tyrell Abeygunawardena have been openly advocating the LTTE’s cause over the past three years.

But investigators here came to know that these traitors had been on the Director Board of a Tamil-owned company (which was part of the Tiger propaganda network) after two other board members had been arrested, according to the Dinamina. By that time Bhahshana and Tyrell had fled to Germany. They belong to what is known as the ‘X group’ (X Kandayama) which has turned its back on their Sinhala birth right and Sinhala heritage.

Bhashana was among the bogus peace crusaders who were involved in a ‘Pongu Thamil’ ceremony on the LTTE’s behalf in Colombo, a few years ago. The event provoked an angry crowd to attack these traitors. The incident occurred when members of the now-defunct Sihala Urumaya raised questions these clowns could not answer.

The organizers of this event included Film Director Dharmasiri Bandaranayake and Trotskyite Prof. Sucharitha Gamlath who once condemned the previous government for weakening the Tigers’ “liberation struggle” by allowing Karuna to defect from the LTTE. (Gamlath expressed this view to the Sinhala weekly Irudina – sister paper of the Sunday Leader – about a year ago).
