The Colombo Magistrates court today refused to grant a search warrant requested by the Terrorist Investigations Unit (TID) to search opposition leader Ranil Wickremesighe’s house today, UNP MP Wijedasa Rajapaksa told Daily Mirror online.

The CID said they had received information that scurrilous posters against President Mahinda Rajapaksa and weapons had been stashed at the Opposition Leader’s official residence.
Rejecting the application the magistrate said the CID had paid to submit sufficient evidence to issue a warrant.
The magistrate also rejected another application by the CID for a warrant to search a Biyagama printing press owned by the Wijeya Group, the publishers of the Sunday Times, in this case too Magistrate Meegoda said there was insufficient evidence to support the CID’s application.
