Army enters Cinnamon Grand Hotel

The soldiers of security forces, who have been surrounding Cinnamon Lake Hotel since last night, not allowing Gen. Fonseka and several other political party leaders supporting him to leave the hotel, entered the hotel a few moments ago. According to reports they are attempting to apprehend Gen. Fonseka. At the moment tourists who were in the hotel are being evacuated.

Ten of Fonseka's security men come out of Cinnamon Grand


Ten uniformed army personnel who were inside the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel came out a short while ago and reported to the Army.

The men had been those who had been detailed for the security of General (retd.) Fonseka.

Hotel where Ranil - Fonseka are staying surrounded by Army(Lanka-e-News, Jan.27, 2010, 9.10AM) The Hotel ‘Cinnamon Lake’ where Presidential candidate Gen. Sarath Fonseka, Opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and other party leaders are staying has been surrounded by about 300 soldiers at the moment, according to an Opposition front - liner who is in the Hotel, told Lanka e new.

The soldiers are also engaged in rigorous checking of vehicles moving in and out of the Hotel.Reports reaching Lanka e news say that this posse of soldiers have come to the Hotel not at the request of the Opposition front-liners in the Hotel.
