Assalamualaikum dear dilankandy! from where have you read that Quran says earth is flat ? As per Quran world is spherical like egg. Moreover it does not say sun sets in muddy pound. I hope you are little bit educated, where from have you taken these ideas.

One big error in Bible is that it says earth is flat. It is the Quran which first time ever 1400 years said that earth is sphericle. Moon takes light from Sun. Earth rotates. These facts were proved only some hundred years ago while it is the Quran which first time gave these facts 1400 years ago.

Water sycle was mentioned first time in Quran. Another miracle of Quran which has been proved by science just 30/50 years ago, it says this world is expanding". That means the distance between glaxies is increasing. Quran said it 1400 years ago, dear, therefore many scientists have accepted Islam. They are shocked to know that how come Quran told these scientific facts 1400 years ago.

Sorry to inform that, it was Sinhala (Siwhela) people who really found that the Earth rotates & revolves around the Sun. The difference is that our people did not keep them in writing or may be there were writings and were burnt during the invasions. We knew about this Earth's rotation & revolution for a long time (for about 5000 years). Thats why Sinhala people celebrate new year at April when the sun peaks on right above the country, and the traditional dances such as Thelme are to symbolize the Earth's rotation & revolution.
