hmm watch boondock saints ..that's a good action comedy.

The Holmes in the book is a very active character as well but he's also of the gentleman class. So his mannerisms are of that. Not the rough and ready.
I havent seen the movie yet, but from what I saw in the trailer, this aspect of their characters seems to be totally left out.

Most of the time yes. Movie adaptations kill the book. A and D is a prime example. I wont speak about පොට්ට හෑරී as I've never read any of those books. The Angels and Demons movie was a total abomination that had killed all that is good in the book.

Very few movies are faithful adaptations or retains the essence of the book. The Watchmen is one faithful adaptation of the book I saw.

I have seen a very faithful adaptation of Sherlock Holmes in the Hallmark Channel. Its a TV series, not a movie.
