Just finished watching this one (its a black and white movie). I see that the Mission Impossible 2 was heavily based on this movie (or the book).

    Just finished watching Avatar
    avatar-quotes1.jpg

Watched the 2D DVD rip. I dunno how good the 3D version is but no way in hell does this movie deserve to win the movie of the year.
The story is absolutely boiler plate. The Na'vi doesnt display much emotion on their faces so cant say much about their acting. The human actors certainly did a decent job though.
The visuals on 2D was pretty fucking great! There was not even a hint to suggest that it was CGI. However this is not the first movie to achieve that. So on 2D, its an average Fantasy story with awesome CGI. Like I said before, as I havent seen the 3D version, I dunno how 'mind blowing' the visuals really are.
So the awards its won for Art Direction, Cinematography, and Visual Effects, it certainly did deserve but no fucking way that this even deserve a nomination as best picture.
Hopefully Avatar 2 has a better story (but I highly doubt it..)'
Waiting to see what M. Night Shyamalan does with the real Avatar movie : Avatar : The last air bender.

These were my comments posted earlier in this thread!!!

    Finally found a good copy....
What can i say? yeah its a good movie..overall.
Its kind of a family movie.Typical Cameron style.Where all characters are enjoying what they are doing ..No mater they are in danger or having a cup of coffee.
Before this i watched "The Abyss" by Cameron... So i felt the similarity of his style of directing..This style gives him world wide money making opportunity..

Cinematography of the movie is good.3d effects are are really nice. But it doesn't give me the satisfaction what i have hoped of it.I don't beleve any one can make a super artistic flick along with overwhelming action sequence. There were some moments of feelings. But its not sufficient to make me attached to it 100%.

Last battle was no where near the artistic quality of District 9's. It reminds me of some mediocre action movie End- battle, even though the special effects are good.

Finally what i can say is, this movie u can watch in a one sitting. Not great but good. Its not a movie, after watching it u think "Oh shit!! what a awesome movie!"

It recently happened to me after finishing "Aguirre, the Wrath of God" by Herzog,"Persona" by Bergman,"Stalker" by Tarkovsky

    Second comment!!!!

avatar is the best movie for most of people in the world,

since they haven't watch may be 15-25 Hollywood movies for their entire life time.
Honestly for me it didn't have any depth.movie is good but not great.
One girl told me she cried when movie finishes .. she said it was touching..ya it was..but not for me.

I believe Cameron's ,hugely underated The abyys (until 2 hours 43 min director's cut came out)is way better than Avatar.
