Anyway back to the topic, Its really nice to work in a cloud and help each other to combat viruses as a huge team.

Mac OS X onwards has linux under the hood. So they can make the same claim.

There was CloudAV, mostly did as a scientific test by university of Michigan.
Its not for normal user.

why whats wrong with it?
I know normally free products are less in quality and support.
But this is truly new architecture for virus scanning and definition updates.
They sell this for corporate clients. They giving this for free to increase the community and find threads faster than other scanners.

well i have not tested panda's traditional signature based scanners.
I don't think its bad but they are not so popular.

Don't use most popular virus scanners all the time coz mostly all the virus writers check their virus with popular scanners before the release.
I know some rapidshare sellers in here modify spyware and release them after checking with Kaspersky,

And in the other hand some anti virus makers write virus them selves and release to public to keep their position. Then only their scanner can catch them for sometime. Its all business
But with these new cloud based methods others also can get protection without that delay.
