The police have begun tracking down vehicles that have any kind of tinted glass in the front windows. A spokesman for the City Traffic Police said that regulations were sent by the Defence Ministry informing vehicle owners and drivers that only clear glass should appear in the front windows of all vehicles.

Any kind of tinted glass in the rear side of the vehicle is allowed. The traffic police have commenced tracking down such vehicles and informing vehicle owners.

^^ bro this says another thing..

    By Supun Dias

The City Traffic Police said yesterday only a light tint that cuts out a maximum of 20 per cent sunlight would be permitted and as such all other levels of tints would have to be removed.

They made this clarification when requested to explain how the new regulation would be enforced as there was much confusion among vehicles owners.

The police said no tints would be allowed on the two front shutters of a vehicle.

Since last week the police cracked down on vehicles with tinted shutters in the front.

A City Traffic Police spokesman said the regulations were imposed by the Defence Ministry.

Only vehicles with special permits from the Defence Ministry will be allowed to have all the four shutters tinted.

Many vehicle owners were nonplussed as to the need for this new regulation when the security situation in the country had dramatically improved since the war ended last year.

Police said the regulation on tinted glass is in the Motor Traffic and that they were only implementing an existing law.

This is crazy..I have checked all web sites (Motor Traffic / Defence.lk / Traffic Police) but could not find the exact guideline.

This is gonna be another money spinner for the local cops.

I have 70% - Rear & 20%- Front....but I guess I'll have to strip down the entire thing, 'cause it's a lot safer than wating my time with the stupid cops. (prior experinces were quite bitter!!!):angry:

If anybody come across any news please let us know...PLEASE:confused::confused::confused:

The biggest problem with Sri Lankan Traffic Police is that there is no TRANSPARENCY!!!! There is no informative resource available anywhere offering information on Traffic Violations are their corresponding fines. This only allows the city traffic to run riot handing violation tickets.

IGP Balasuriya...I truly hope you are a blogger with "ELAKIRI" !!!!!
