hollywood always ripping off korean and jap movies...they shouldn't be allowed to ruin good original movies by doing that.

Exactly bro. There's another movie is called hachiko a dog's story. First i thought it is a hollywood movie. Then i found out that it is also another copy of original japanese movie called Hachikô monogatari.

I like japanese and korean movies rather than hollywood movies. :)

Pretty good movie. I like the CGI on this better than the CGI on Avatar.
The Mad Hatter was a bit creepy and love that disappearing cat!
The characters were mixed up from both Alice in Wonderland and Through Looking Glass (Sequel to AiW). It was a good movie altogether and miles better than the Sherlock Holmes abomination in terms of adapting a well known book in to a movie.

Watched this straight after watching Alice in Wonderland and it proved one thing above all else : Hayao Miyazaki is GOD (of anime). This hand drawn 2D animation from 1988 totally pwned Alice in Wonderland.
A master story teller doesnt need imax 3D or any other high technology CGI to tell a story. Simple yet elegant 2D is more than enough.
My daughter enjoyed it thoroughly even though she didn understand a single word of Japanese and she cant read the sub titles yet.
The lush background sceneries so detailed were beautiful to look at and the story, though a complete fantasy, was captivating enough to keep my daughter (and me) awake long enough to watch the whole movie from the opening sequence to the end of credits roll.
It fully deserves the 8.1/10 rating it has on IMDB.

    Just finished watching Only Yesterday
    onlyyesterday625.jpg

This is a gem of a movie by the next master of anime Isao Takahata (Director of Grave of the fireflies) from 1991.
This movie is definitely aimed at the adult audiences and its live action counter parts would be romance genre but this movie is miles ahead of any hollywood romance movie. The movie also touches some areas of parenthood, especially the traditional roles in parenting.
I believe it deserves more that 7.7 on the IMDB scores. At least a 8.4.

edit: Forgot to mention that this movie has the Japanese version of Bette Midler's The Rose as the ending theme song.
