Cricket and Bollywood fans in Sri Lanka will have the rare opportunity of seeing their favourite stars in action when a friendly Twenty 20 charity match is played at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground on June 04. The event has been organized as a part of the Indian Film Festival.
According to the Chief organizer of the event Suraj Dandeniya who is also the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket World Cup Organizing Committee, the two teams will consist of Indian film stars and Indian and Sri Lankan cricketers.
Dandeniya stated that the Bollywood stars team will be captained by the famous movie star Shahrukh Khan while Kumar Sangakara will lead the Sri Lankan cricket team.
The match will hold a festive air with Local and Indian singers performing at every possible interval and the fans will have the opportunity to meet the stars. The musical and fun events will start at 11.00 a.m. and the match will start at around 1.00 p.m.
There will be no strict rules and regulations for the match. Out of the regular format, the movie stars will accommodate more than 11 players in their side in a rotating manner in order to give every player a chance to participate in the event.
Sri Lanka Cricket will be the proud organizers of this event along with the assistance from the Sri Lanka Tourism. The proceeds of the match will go to Habitat and UNICEF.
